ABOUT TIM SCHMIDT´S MUSICAL LANGUAGE

TIM SCHMIDT MUSIC

Tim Schmidt´s musical language is ranging from folk to soundscapes. Here the landscape meets the metropolis. When Tim Schmidt's live recorded sessions of organic folk music first emerged through internet, radios and on the European folk stages, the Swede was compared to folkies such as Nick Drake, Michael Hurley, Cat Stevens and Jeff Buckley. During these (early) years Tim Schmidt toured extensively across Europe as well as recorded 5 albums for indie-labels in Canada, Germany and Sweden. A succession of time led him to tapes, soundtracks and pumporgan-fueled webs: Cinematic tales told by Tim Schmidt´s soft, twangy baritone doo-whops. Today his music is both revealing and connecting his experiences from the Swedish forest he grew up in and the European metropolises he has been living in since, without apparent order. Mantra like solo-instrumentals are colliding with old-time twang: naive acts created through a stream of consciousness-technique. In Schmidts remarkably intimate catalog of recordings the landscape meets the metropolis. In 2017, the now Berlin-based musician (& art critic) mentions that he is working on a album. "It´s mad and without known framework". Be sure to tune in to Tim Schmidt´s remarkable and intimate catalog of recordings.
